Sonnet: April 19th


Carlos Jose lied to his parents today,

“I’m going to play soccer,” he said,

But he wanted to protest.

In his seventeen years, he only knew

About kidnaping, hungry and repression.

Sadly, looking for a change,

He found a bullet in his head.


In San Carlos square, Paula Andrea

From the government, she couldn’t escape.

The 23-year-old body is not breathing,

Her blood stains the street.

April 19, our Independence Day

People ask for elections, The president

Answer killing the future.
